“for the first time all the neighbors came together for one cause.”

Jonathan moved to Furn El Chebbak two years ago. He loves his neighborhood, the diversity of culture, age, and ways of life between his neighbors are what he finds most interesting. We asked him if there is any memorable story that happened between himself and his neighbors that he would like to share with us and he told us about the time when all the neighbors gathered up to solve an issue regarding the owner of the electricity generator. The general complaints were about the bills. The pricing of the monthly subscription was becoming unbearable and the neighbors felt like they needed to do something about this issue. They organized monthly meetings discussing the issue in hands until at the end, they decided to unsubscribe themselves from the services provided by the owner of the generator. This unified act alerted the owner and forced him to lower his price. Jonathan was very proud of what all the neighbors including himself did: “for the first time all the neighbors came together for one cause. And thanks to this experience I got to know new neighbors with whom I became friends with.” He thinks that the problem was solved only because all the neighbors were united. 

Another thing Jonathan shared with us was his concern regarding the new residents, mostly of young age, that recently moved to Furn El Chebbak. He worries that the new residents might disturb the old.
