“We are all one big happy family.”
“when I was a little child, my mum taught our neighbor how to cook, and when my mom died, that same neighbor taught me how to cook!” Lamar Bou Nader lives in Achrafieh, she knows all her neighbors and when we asked her what is the best memory you have of your neighbors she told us the story when her father got really sick and she had to leave her job to take care of him, so all her neighbors volunteered to pay her rent for an entire year until he got better and she was able to pay the rent again. Lamar considers that before, neighbors used to care more about each other than now, they used to invite each other over for a cup of coffee, if someone got hurt, they take him immediately to the hospital. “during the war we lived in shelters all together with the neighbors. Now you feel there is a distance between the neighbors, people are more careful. But still there are some friendly faces around who always ask about my days.”
